The CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children supports many associations acting for children in South of France as well as in Lebanon. “Through its Corporate Foundation, the CMA CGM Group stresses its attachment to its homeland, Lebanon, and to Marseilles and its surrounding area, where the company head office has been located for more than 35 years now” Corporate Foundation’s president Naïla Saadé explains.
Boat for Lebanon operation
In 2006, for the CMA CGM Group Corporate Foundation’s 2nd year of activity, the operation “Boat for Lebanon” was supported. It helped uprooted populations during the Lebanon War.
The CMA CGM CAP CAMARAT vessel was used during the humanitarian corridor initiated by France to carry humanitarian help from France to Lebanon. More than 2,000 tons of food, medical supplies, sanitary products, and vehicles were transported and distributed to Lebanese population in total. This operation was organized by the CMA CGM Group together with the French delegation dedicated to humanitarian action and the French Minister of Foreign Affairs at that time.
Restoration works on Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica’s ex-voto
The same year, the CMA CGM Group Foundation also participated in some restoration works on Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica in Marseilles. The Corporate Foundation financed the restoration of a collection of marine ex-votos. Those ex-votos are testimonies of gratitude to the Virgin Mary. The collection is made of 233 paintings and 53 boat scale models – the CMA CGM Group also gave one.
