On November 21st in London, Captain Hervé Lepage, of the CMA CGM ROSSINI, 5,800 TEUs, was honored by a certificate from the International Maritime Organization for Heroic Act at Sea. At the awards ceremony, the Captain was represented by Michael Parker, General Manager of CMA CGM UK.
In October 2015, the Captain demonstrated remarkable perseverance in locating and rescueing two crew members of the Llama-Lo catamaran, which had capsized off the coast of South Africa after a collision with a whale.
Rerouted with five other ships to join in the search, the CMA CGM ROSSINI had been sent in the area where the catamaran’s last radio signal was issued. The two castaways drifted for 26 hours when Captain Lepage managed to locate them with a very accurate estimate of the position of their emergency beacon.
