Please introduce yourself.
My name is Lalith Kapila Namamuni. I’m Sri Lankan.

I serve onboard the MV NILEDUTCH ORCA in the capacity of Bosun, sailing on the Asian and West Africa service (ASAF).
How long have you been working for CMA CGM?
I have been working for CMA CGM since 2014, so about two years.
What is your background (studies, previous positions)?
I studied in Sri Lanka. After finishing school at the age of 21, I joined the Sri Lankan Navy in 1986. I served in the Navy for 13 years and when I retired, I held the rank of petty officer. I joined the Merchant Navy in 2000.
Why did you choose this career?
After retiring from the Sri Lankan Navy I still loved the sea, which is why I joined the Merchant Navy. It was my dream to travel the world and have new experiences in different cultures and situations.
What do you like most about your job?
I joined the Merchant Navy as an Able Seaman, so the most memorable moment in my life was being promoted to Bosun in 2010.
What is a typical day for you?
From 0600 to noon I work on the deck. I take a one-hour lunch break, and then from 1300 to 1700 I’m back to work on the deck along with my strong and hardworking crew members. After 1700 I’m free to pursue my leisure activities.
What is your next destination?
Malaysia, Port Kelang.
If you had any pieces of advice to give to someone who would like to follow your path, what would it be?
“If a person loves what he or she does and has good and humble qualities, and has the ability to win thousand hearts, that person will succeed in life.”
