In 2007 the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children set up a Prize that is awarded every year by its President, Naïla Saadé, to two associations for their involvement in social or humanitarian actions to help children in need.
The same year, the CMA CGM Group Foundation awarded several projects for children, including “l’Opéra du Silence” in Marseilles and International Handicap in Lebanon.
“L’Opéra du Silence” in Marseilles
The Foundation supported this pedagogical experimental project which aimed at giving access to opera to deaf children through dance. This project was led by the Opera of Marseilles along with “l’Institut des Hirondelles” – an association specialized in training deaf children. The show given on June 2008 at the Opera of Marseilles was the culmination of 20 dance classes given to children to immerse them in Opera’s Universe.
Handicap International in Lebanon
After the war in Lebanon in 2006, CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children contributed to the installation of houses for disabled people hit by antipersonnel mines in the South of the country.
