Friends of the Disabled Association
Created in 1978 in Lebanon, the Friends of the Disabled offers advocacy and rehabilitation services to children with intellectual disabilities, in its “I’dad” Center, through various programs, involving educational and vocational training, therapeutic treatments and leisure, sports and artistic activities, aiming at fostering their autonomy towards full social integration.
Thanks to the support of the Foundation, Friends of the Disabled could build a sensory stimulation room for autistic children, called “snoezelen”.
Some parents of disabled children founded La Chrysalide association in 1958 in Marseilles. Today, they host more than 1,250 disabled people from the age of 3 in 39 institutions. They also provide a support for families and employ more than 900 persons.
The medical and educative institute “Les Figuiers” was created by La Chrysalide association in 2006. The place hosts around 40 children from 6 to 20 years old suffering from multiple disabilities or autism. They aim at giving them autonomy, expression and independency, based on some personalized projects.
The CMA CGM Foundation for Children participated in financing an adapted pedagogical kitchen. It boosts the children’s motor and psychomotor development, and also helps in training some teenagers to catering professions.
