CMA CGM has been commited to protect the environment for several years. The Group deploys numerous actions, engagements and initiatives making CMA CGM a responsible company. Recently, CMA CGM has been awarded at “The Environmental Award ceremony (ESI) HAROPA – Le Havre 2012” that took place in June in Rouen.
The Group participated in this environmental initiative, for which 50 vessels submit their NOx, SOX and CO2 levels, and was rewarded for its environmental policy for atmospheric pollution. The 50 more efficient vessels (such as the CMA CGM JULES VERNE) with the lowest levels of emissions during their calls at Le Havre have been awarded.
On this special occasion, the CMA CGM Group renews and improves its participation, signing the Membership Environmental Charter 2013 of the Great Maritime Port of Le Havre and Rouen. This initiative comes from a largest project : the Environmental Index Ship (ESI) which brings together 25 big ports fighting against climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.
Initially thrown in 2009 by the ports of Amsterdam, Antwerp, Bream, Hamburg, Le Havre and Rotterdam, the ESI was joined since this January 1st by the French ports of Paris and Rouen. To show their long-lasting commitment, it is envisaged from 2014 a signature of a common environmental charter of the ports of HAROPA.
