The CMA CGM Group has just opened a third corridor in Zambia in order to match mining industry needs. In the same time, the Group is going to double in size the largest logistics platform in the Sub-Saharan zone : the CMA CGM Terminal Conteneurs Dakar.
Zambia : launching of a third intermodal corridor
CMA CGM has opened an operational and commercial office in Zambia two years ago to accompany its customers to the copper-belt region. In order to match Mining industry needs, the Group has just opened a new corridor to reach Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola but also Lubumbashi in south DRC from Walvis-Bay.
CMA CGM’s Intermodal service now offers 3 main corridors (Dar Es Salaam, Beira and Walvis-Bay), with the Durban alternative still active. This full range of services allows the group to match customers requirements in term of Transit Time and flexibility to avoid congestions.
Dakar : the bigest logistics platform is about to double its size
The CMA CGM Dakar Container Terminal, owned by CMA CGM, is the biggest logistics patform of the Sub-Saharan zone.
From 10,200m², its size will be extended to 20,500m² during the fourth quarter 2013, in order to improve services to CMA CGM’s valued customers in Senegal, such as reefer and more space dedicated to Mining activity.
This platform manages full and empty containers for all the CMA CGM and DELMAS lines and offers :
- container storage facilities for import / export operations
- two areas for stuffing or stripping (minerals, phosphate, salt, etc)
- customs clearance area
- transportation service for delivering containers to a customer
