More than 1,000 American employees work for the CMA CGM Group. The majority of them are based in the U.S. particularly in Norfolk, on the East Coast. This is the case of Marlo R. who has been working within the Marketing team for nearly 12 years.
“I joined CMA CGM as a trade analyst. I moved to the Marketing department shortly after joining, and worked with management over the years to design and put into production many of the reporting tools that are used on a daily basis here in Norfolk. My job and team work to continually evolve and enhance our reporting structure to meet CMA CGM (America) LLC’s growing volumes & demands. The marketing team is also responsible for some updating of the Company Website, Customer advisories, and many other ad hoc projects that come their way. Some days I may be assisting my team with producing reports, while other days I am designing databases for a new report request. My days are varied!” she explains. What does she like most about her job? The challenges she is often confronted to: “The fact that this job keeps evolving is what has kept it interesting after all these years!”
We asked her how she feels about working for a French company. She said, “As I have been in the shipping industry for most of my professional career, I have always worked for foreign owned companies. However, the environment here at CMA CGM does have a different feel to it. The environment here is very fast paced, and always seems to be evolving, which is not something you see all the time. You can also tell the difference in how we are valued as employees. These things really make CMA CGM stand out in our community.”
The CMA CGM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, the largest vessel ever to call at a U.S. port, will return to the U.S. mid-February and CMA CGM has mobilized its teams on the ground. “Being part of the Marketing team has given me a front row seat the planning of this event. While it is very busy right now, it is very exciting to be involved in this momentous occasion and to be able to celebrate this milestone with CMA CGM.”
