The Maritime Law Department is very important for the CMA CGM group as it links all entities to the Group’s clients. Here’s a review of some of the desks of this department.
Its principal mission is to support Management, the lines and agencies in their day to day work by finding concrete responses to each situation. To do this, the Department collaborates actively with all Group agencies and subsidiaries around the world and with a large number of external organizations.
The Global Accounts Contracts Team
This team is responsible for negotiating and validating the legal terms of the Global accounts tenders and the Us Service Contracts and also for following up the claims of some selected clients in order to offer a “all in one service”. Baye’s team collaborates closely with the Sales and Marketing Key accounts.
The Embargo Team
This team (also known as “compliance desk”) ensures the compliance of our contracts and shipments with the embargo rules set up by the United Nations, the European Union and the United States against various countries such as Iran, North Korea, Syria and Sudan. It set up procedure s with agents, control the bookings, and actively cooperate with various states bodies.
The Hull, Machinery and Crew claims Team
In collaboration with CMA SHIPS and the Safety, Security and Environment CMA CGM department, this team deals with damages of owned vessels, it also follow up and negotiate contracts for ship supplies, dry dockings, ships and crew managements.
