The CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children will celebrate its 10 years anniversary on June 17th 2015. For this occasion, the Foundation has been organizing for 1 year once a month, at the head office of the CMA CGM Group in France, and in Lebanon, art workshops named ‘Children’s Wednesdays’.
This project gathered more than 100 children members from various associations in Marseilles, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region (France) and Lebanon helped by the Foundation during its 10 years of existence. 11 groups of children with a protracted illness, a disability or from an underprivileged background, and 3 groups of children belonging to CMA CGM employees, were able to visit the CMA CGM tower and to take part in an art workshop run by a fine arts teacher.
The ‘Children’s Wednesdays’ art project was linked to CMA CGM Group’s activity. Thus, children had a chance to decorate a small 3D containership made of polystyrene.
During these workshops, children had a chance to overtake their difficulties and to develop their creative potentials.
After all these workshops, the CMA CGM Group Foundation for Children decided to gather on June, 17th all the children and the associations who took part in ‘Children’s Wednesdays’. Children are invited to an anniversary party and to discover the exhibition of their works – it will be inaugurated on the same day by Marseilles’ mayor and senator Jean-Claude Gaudin.
For the CMA CGM Foundation, it is important that this anniversary is celebrated with children from the associations that have been supported over the past ten years.
“We have been supporting children in need for almost ten years. Through Children’s Wednesdays, I would like to give the children of the associations that we have supported in France and Lebanon the opportunity to take part in an artistic and cultural event, to discover our Group and to celebrate, together, this anniversary in June 2015”, explains Naïla Saadé, President of the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children.
